“To accomplish great things, we must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe.” – Anatole France

A dream is a starting point. It is where we allow ourselves to create images, ideas or concepts that we would like to happen, sooner or later. Dreams inspire and motivate us to believe in what could be possible. The truth is, everybody has the ability to turn dreams into reality. However, in order to make this possible, we have to start aiming high and learn how to set the goals we want to achieve.

One of the most common obstructions to setting goals is the word ‘impossible’. It is easy to get fixated on thinking “I can’t do this”. “This is too difficult”. “It’s impossible”. Yet, if everyone thought this way, would there be new inventions or new discoveries and breakthroughs in human achievements?

To avoid ‘impossible’, try not to restrict yourself with self-doubt and self-limiting presumptions. If you see an opportunity, do not let uncertainties and fears get in your way. These factors will only act as barriers. You need to consciously break free of your own self-imposed limiting beliefs.

Life is all about taking risks. Taking risks will not only help you learn and grow, but will open doors to opportunities you may have never thought possible. Successful people are not necessarily those born with more talent. Often, they are simple individuals who are prepared to seize new ideas and act upon them, as opposed to just thinking about them. They are willing to risk failure by acting on those ideas, and with risk, comes reward. Learning to take your pride a little less seriously and allowing yourself the chance to fail may well be the first step to some great opportunities.

It is also important to step out of your comfort zone. It requires devotion, conscious efforts and gradual steps. Yes, there will be times when ‘aiming high’ will bring you face-to-face with your worst fears of failure. But that shouldn’t deter you. As you climb higher on the ladder of progress, you will begin to learn that the ‘impossible’ has just become a little bit more possible.

Nobody likes to be criticised, but unfortunately, it is something that we are bound to receive one time or another. Some of us respond positively with nobility and detachment, yet many others get offended and keep it in until it leads to unnecessary suffering. Dealing with criticism is an important life skill and through it, we have the opportunity to learn and improve ourselves.

Here are some tips to help you deal with criticism:

* Respond to the suggestions, not the tone of the criticism. People may make valuable criticism as suggestions. However, their tone and manner of criticism may appear confrontational, and that is what we respond to rather than to the suggestions they are giving. You need to separate the criticism from the style of criticism. Detach your emotions from the useful suggestions that may lie underneath.

* Value criticism. The problem we have quite often is that we don’t value criticism because we only value praise. You are happy when people speak kind words, but miserable when they criticise. But because criticism can be constructive, you can only progress by inviting it rather than expecting praise which might be insincere or false flattery.

* Don’t take it personally. This is the major problem which occurs with regard to criticism. When people criticise us directly, we should feel they are not criticising our real self but just a misunderstood aspect of ourselves.

* Ignore false criticism. Sometimes we are criticised for no reason or justification and this can be painful. In cases like this, ignore it and remain aloof. If we remain silent and detached then the criticism is given no energy. But if we somehow fight it, we are giving it more importance than it deserves. Maintain a dignity that others will come to respect.

* Don’t react immediately. Responding too quickly because of feelings of anger or injured pride may leave us regretting later on. Wait patiently and you will be able to rationalise and reflect in a calmer way.

* SMILE! Smiling, even if it is a fake one, can help us to relax more. It creates a more positive vibe and ‘smoothen’ outs the situation. And if smiling actually aggravates the other person, then at least you know you’ve got one over them.

Social skills are one of the most important set of abilities one can have; particularly if you are involved in the network marketing business. Being natural social animals, we need these skills to interact and communicate with others in either verbal or nonverbal ways. As adults, we have all somehow gathered the basic skills, but learning additional techniques can help you meet more interesting people, get the job you want, or progress further in your career, business and relationships.

Developing your social skills is an undertaking worth experiencing. Learning to interact in a crowd cannot be attained by just a single lesson or simple social exposure. There are things that can only be honed through practise and multiple applications.

Here are a few tips you could utilise to develop your true social potential:

Start from the basics

It is impossible for you to not have any social skills. What you already know simply needs to be developed to a more advanced level. An example is the proper way to shake someone’s hand. When expending a handshake, always make sure that you are standing up and making direct eye contact with your business counterpart. This is a clear sign of respect and shows that you have manners and understanding.

Courteousness extends anywhere, anytime

Wherever you go, be courteous to the people around you. You never know when you will need them for a business deal, possible employment, or even for referrals. A simple greeting and pleasant attitude will surely help you create a positive connection and relation within a social circle.

Practise your skills in familiar settings

To avoid sudden attacks of intimidation in unfamiliar territories, start showing off your social skills to people who are already recognisable to you. This way you don’t have to think about possible topics to talk about since you are all on the same ground.

Regular practise becomes a habit

The more times you apply your learning, the better your skills will be executed. Expose yourself to as many social events as you can. You will be encouraged to act poised all the time, thus turning your actions into habit.

Mentors can be critical to the growth and success of your career or business. Defined as a ‘wise and trusted counselor or teacher’, a mentor is a person who can guide you, help you, take you under his or her tutelage, and nurture your progress in the field.

Choosing a mentor who is a talented and experienced person in the field can be beneficial for you. This is not only because he or she can teach you theory and technique, but having had real life experiences, he or she can prepare you for real-world situations and perhaps even help you find the right opportunities.

Knowing the right people saves you time in your search for success.

Finding a good mentor

• To find a mentor on your own, first identify someone you admire and respect. You can choose someone from your own network or outside it — or both. Some people choose more experienced mentors at a high organisational level so that they, too, can aspire to the top of the ladder.

• Your mentor is someone you probably have good chemistry with who will share stories with you about his or her own climb to success.

• It is a good idea to choose someone who shares your values and has a positive attitude.

• A mentor is someone who is not afraid to criticise constructively. He should be someone with whom you can talk freely with about your business or career issues.

• A mentor is often in a position you would like to be in and has the connections to guide you to a similar position. He or she can introduce you to the movers and shakers in the industry.

• A mentor has good listening skills and is easy to communicate with.

• Mentors possess emotional intelligence, intuition, a quest to continue learning, and a desire to bring about change.

• Ideally, a mentor should be more of a coach than adviser — one who makes you decide by offering intelligent suggestions and choices, rather than telling you what to do.

How to make your mentor-mentee relationship work

• A mentor can be your role model, for as long as you are comfortable with the image in which your mentor is molding you to become — as his or her protégé.

• Openness, honesty, realistic expectations, accountability, and ability to admit mistakes and failures make for a good relationship.

• Set boundaries relating to confidentiality and time commitments.

• Do not overburden your mentor by demanding too much attention from him or her, or becoming overly dependent.

• The relationship is especially productive when the mentor believes he or she can learn from you, and thus the relationship becomes mutually beneficial.

• Express that you value and appreciate your mentor’s guidance. The feeling of being needed and making a difference in a protégé’s life will often be a rewarding payoff for the mentor, but don’t be afraid to supplement that appreciation with a token gift, flowers, or by picking up the bill when you share a meal. Sometimes a simple note is enough to praise your mentor for his or her contribution to your professional growth.

Change is inevitable … or so the Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, is often quoted as having once said. Even without change, the world is an extremely complex and confusing place. Yet change is something we all have to deal with. It is a big part of life; no matter how hard we cling to the illusion of permanence, reality keeps intruding with its own ideas. Adaptability becomes the key to survival – whether in business, social or personal affairs.

When we talk about business, the ability to adapt to changing markets is essential. Even more important is the ability to see change coming and react quickly enough to survive in today’s fiercely competitive business world. Organisations that survive are those that are adaptable to either minor shifts in trends, or huge changes in the economy. These may not necessarily be changes to your principles or missions, but they may very well be practical changes in the way you do business.

But of course, it’s not just long-term that leaders need to be adaptable; leaders must also be adaptable in their daily work lives. That is, true leaders can handle sudden changes in schedules, unexpected technical problems, or a financial crisis without losing their cool. Instead they assess the situation, decide on a course of action, and go for it, while understanding they may need to alter that course tomorrow if need be.

The elusive dream of business success captures the imagination of aspiring and existing business owners everywhere. A vision of flowing profits, industry respect, thrilled customers, and a balanced life is attractive. This vision is only possible by developing habits that drive business success. And one habit of success is adaptability.

“Keep doing what you are doing and you will keep getting what you have been getting.” – Albert Einstein

Success should be something you do not just want to achieve, but something you MUST achieve. Generally, successful people are driven by a ‘have-to’ rather than ‘want-to’ attitude.

In an industry where you own your own business, it is not only imperative to have the right mindset; you also need to be prepared to leave the comfort zone. What is the comfort zone? As the phrase implies, it is that part of your life that is familiar — an environment, even an established lifestyle, in which you feel comfortable and secure. Some people may be satisfied with a 9 to 5 or even 9 to 9 existence, but for those who want time freedom, getting out of the comfort zone is needed to achieve this freedom.

To prepare to get out of your comfort zone you must first feel deep down that you have to. After this acceptance and willingness, do something that initially makes you nervous or frightened. When you see that you can accomplish this task without a loss, then you will be less hesitant to take the next small step, and then the next. Your comfort zone is now expanding and when it is coupled with success each time, you will never want to stop.

Most people will not leave their comfort zone until a life-changing event occurs that forces them to step out. Losing one’s job or escalating and accumulating monthly rent payments and bills are scary, but they may also be seen as blessings in disguise. They force us to leave our comfort zone and search for better opportunities, especially when we have financial obligations to meet and little or no income to pay for them. Life-changing events give us the self-motivation to change our lives, but let us not be complacent and wait for these unfortunate incidents to happen before we feel the need to seek a more fulfilling and successful life.

It will be difficult to take the step out of our comfort zone, but in the long run, you will have much more freedom and happiness because of it.

Go for the change and discover what life has to offer you!

One of the most attended events in the network marketing industry is the business opportunity meetings or training seminars, which expose prospects to the qualities of the company and the business. Teaching your downlines to properly promote and edify these meetings is paramount to keep the network growing. Edification, just like duplication, is the key.

Webster defines edification as “the act of edifying, or the state of being edified; a building up, especially in a moral or spiritual sense; moral, intellectual, or spiritual improvement; instruction”. In networking context, edification can be deemed as simply uplifting or giving recognition to a person or event of importance in order to transfer, establish, or lend credibility to the person/event/company. It can also increase the receptivity of prospects to the business. If you learn and practise the proper techniques, it is only a matter of time before your downlines begin to duplicate the edification process.

Here are some ways to promote the training events so that attendees will respect the speakers or leaders and be open to the opportunity that awaits them:

• Emphasise the achievements and experience of the speakers or leaders and their leadership abilities

• Point out the organisation’s success in other business areas apart from the network marketing industry (e.g. high profile sponsorships in sports and the global business community)

• Mention efforts and contributions of the organisation in line with corporate social responsibility (CSR)

• Identify specific individuals whose lives were uplifted because of the business (success stories or testimonials)

• Share the personal benefits you received from attending prior training events

• Point out the need to be part of a winning organisation

Rapport is a subject that is often overlooked, yet it is critical to success. It is the ability to establish a trusting and long term relationship founded on mutual honesty and integrity. In this business of network marketing, the key is to making yourself a better “people person.”

Many of us have a tendency to push too hard or demand what we want from someone without establishing the necessary rapport. More often than not, this is considered as a premature and overzealous act, which will eventually backfire on you and drive people away. They will see you as arrogant and condescending and that is a big turn off.

Establishing rapport with a prospective downline is very important. Just because a prospect is close to signing up doesn’t mean it is a “done deal.” You may have done your homework and presented the business opportunity and the company products like a true pro, but if you do not optimise your power of rapport, i.e., bother to get to know your future business partner better, then he or she would probably back out or lose interest in the business.

Tips on Establishing Rapport

The first step to establishing rapport is to assume that you do not have it in the first place. Just because you know someone or have done business with them doesn’t mean your rapport is already intact. Keep in mind too that rapport is not something you establish once and then think it will last forever. You need to reconnect with your downlines on a certain basis so you are updated with their progress. Consider these guidelines:

• Be more interested in listening than speaking
• Be highly respectful and courteous
• Be sincere and compassionate
• Ask questions and be patient
• Make the person you are speaking to feel as though he or she is the most important person you are with at the moment
• Be real

Make the effort to establish rapport with others and watch how your interactions with them become more rewarding – personally and professionally.

There is a feeling of pride when you look at a final product and know that it was created by just a few tools and your own two hands. Imagine an artist’s finished painting or a chef’s completed entrée. Now, imagine looking at a 90-story building or a three mile long bridge and knowing that you were a vital part of the existence of this architectural wonder. This type of work takes a creative eye, a love of art and the motivation to keep working until a project is finished. One way to release this creative energy is by participating in a Jacksonville welding program and becoming a professional welder.

Welding Careers in Tulsa and Around the World

Training in this area can be offered through a technical school, which involves a minimal amount of time and money to give you the knowledge needed to be a skilled welder. As a welder, you will be contributing to the upkeep of infrastructure around the world. After becoming a professional in this field, you might be working anywhere from skyscrapers, to bridges bridges and on other structures that have an enormous impact on today’s way of life.

You will also find that this career offers several opportunities. Welders are needed all over the world, meaning you could find yourself overseas, in the United States or anywhere in between. Also, a shortage of welders in the U.S. has left many businesses in need of educated professionals that can fill this position. And after an education at a Tulsa welding school, that professional welder could be you.

You may be in school as little as less than four months in order to become a structural welder in Jacksonville; or you might choose to spend a bit more time receiving the education necessary to become a master welder. No matter what program you choose to engage in, you will find yourself in the workforce in no time, allowing you to start your career as soon as possible.

Most technical schools that offer welding programs will provide courses that give students the opportunity to actually weld and engage in exercises mimicking real-life, on-the-job projects. This allows students to get the real, hands-on experience necessary to succeed when beginning their first job.

If you find yourself intrigued by all that a career in welding offers, consider attending a Jacksonville welding school and begin traveling down the road to your future career. Be a part of creating and repairing the structures that make everyday life possible and keep our world moving forward. This is a satisfying and rewarding way to find enjoyment in a job that will take you through the rest of your life.
